The Phillips Community Pool offers Lifeguard Training courses through the American Red Cross, and instructed by a certified Lifeguard Instructor. These classes are done in a number of formats to best fit the schedules of those interested.

The course teaches participants CPR, AED use, First-Aid, and water rescues. Participants must be able to pass a 3-part pre-course test on the first night of class that consists of treading water for two minutes with only legs, swimming 300 yards unassisted, and completing a timed event in under 1 minute 40 seconds. Particpants must also be at least 15 years old on the last day of the course.
